In 1999, David Brewer of Solutions Investigations was the coordinator for investigations for AFI International, and sub-contracted investigators to AFI. We performed the duties of surveillance on strike situations as well as for those requiring service of the investigation field. As an investigator for Solutions, we were often called upon to observe and record the activities of those on the WSIB system, as well as private insurance companies, in the attempt to determine the health conditions of those receiving benefits from a fore mentioned organizations. Beginning my career as a security guard, I soon worked my way into the investigation field with this company, and soon after became a supervisor for the Delta District which consisted of 27 manned and unmanned sites. My duties included what came to be known as the "Bank Run" consisting of 13 Bank of Nova Scotia banks which had to be monitored and internally checked for any camera, or sensor malfunctions. I also supervised 14 manned sites in a mobile capacity. I was further trained in proper use of Handcuffs, Baton use and Defensive Driving through the Toronto Police College Instructors in Scarborough, Ontario with a number of others and the art of passive arrest techniques and investigations. Our company was often asked to work hand-in hand with the Scarborough Police to decrease the drug problem in the area, and were asked to perform buys of narcotics, documenting the number of dealers, locations of stored drugs and quantities available for purchase, due to "Entrapment Laws" in place in under the criminal code of Canada. I was further trained in the art of Personal Protect, and Executive Protection of high level persons. I was also fortunate enough to be involved in undercover work, often applying skills learned in college and learning new skills in both the white collar and blue collar industries, as well as in the Strike Industry situations.
