Under the general supervision of the Site Supervisor, the nasal swabber/collector will provide service to patients, maintain their facility, and follow directives. Types of collections may include: Nasopharyngeal swab, Oropharyngeal swab, Mid-turbinate swab, or anterior nasal swab. All BioReference policies will be followed for Privacy and OSHA for safety in the work Environment. This roles is specific to COVID testing.

Assist doctor with surgical procedures, instrument preparation, equipment, and administration of appropriate narcotics. Effectively communicates pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients. Assist and provide services, required by the surgeon during a procedure while utilizing aseptic techniques.

Serves as the “point” person as an inter-operative surgical adviser, for OR personnel and surgeons to resolve issues that may arise before, during, and after surgical cases. Assessing situations quickly and efficiently during cases, tailored to specific surgical situations.

Provide retraction of tissue and organs for optimal visualization. Use electrocautery mono and bi-polar Clamp, ligate, and cut tissue, In addition to Inter-operative duties, the surgical assistant also performs preoperative and postoperative duties.

Responsibilities included assisting the surgeon during surgical operations under their direction, while ensuring overall sterility of procedures. Pre-op duties included preparing the OR, patient, surgical instrumentation and room for the specific case. Sterilizing incision site using aseptic technique, properly position patient on the table, use of sterile drapes, and assist in donning of surgical gowns and gloves.Inter-operatively, I would pass instrumentation and supplies as required by surgeon, while assessing, retracting, and supporting surrounding tissue and structures. I also was required to keep count of all equipment, such as needles, sponges, and other instruments, to ensure patient safety.
