Senior Controls Engineer
Current• Led the vehicle controls design, development, calibration, and validation for DC Fast Charging for a 700 V, 210 kWh battery pack system on a Class 8 truck utilizing a Combined Charging System Type 1 (CCS1) connector.• Developed vehicle controls, using Simulink and MATLAB, for the following features: HV power steering, HV pneumatic compressor (brakes and suspensions), legacy cruise control, vehicle range estimation, hoteling time estimation, and CNG fuel system.• Supported controls development and testing for the following features: HVAC, powertrain and battery thermal system, vehicle diagnostics for OBD-compliance, predictive and adaptive cruise control, and supervisory controls.• Calibrated and verified controls software through extensive vehicle testing and data analysis, using ETAS and CANalyzer. Also, participated in a Hot Trip where trucks drove from Texas to Nevada for summer testing on Davis Dam.• Collaborated with Systems engineers to formulate system and component requirements for my respective systems.• Worked closely with suppliers to review their specification documents, DFMEA, and firmware to ensure they met our system and components requirements. Led the analysis and selection of components in the DC Charging system.• Supported the creation of CARB OBD Certification documents by compiling and creating vehicle diagnostic faults.• Developed vehicle commissioning and service routines in the powertrain software using the UDS protocol.
