Profile bio

About Briana Klass

I have recently earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on Human Resource Management from Grand Canyon University. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Public History from Arizona State University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History with minors in Museum Studies and Asian Studies. I have a great love for History, Art, and storytelling.I am currently working at Grand Canyon University as a Dispatcher in the Public Safety and Police Department. The department focuses on excellent customer service while facilitating a safe environment for staff and students. This position requires me to keep a calm demeanor in the face of emergencies and high call volume. It has allowed me to better my ability to document and update databases, further develop advanced problem solving and work in a face-paced environment. I have also worked at the Phoenix Art Museum in their security department. There I was trained as a Gallery Attendant, Control Room Operator, and Security Supervisor. As a supervisor, I ensured building safety and security and kept necessary databases up to date. I also maintain and update the security Wiki and have created the majority of its pages. I assist with the planning of training and creation of training materials, help organize staff files and training databases, and cover other supervisor and control room shifts as needed. I have completed a contract with the Arizona State Archives as a contract archivist. There I worked on processing, housing, and re-housing collections items, creating finding aids, and worked on their new CuadraSTAR Online Catalogue, Arizona State Knowledge Center. Before this, I completed an internship with Salt River Project’s Research and Archives. This internship allowed me to gain skills in researching and creating professional land-use histories, gain experience working within a corporate archive, increase my understanding and skill in handling and arranging archival materials, creating finding aids, and fulfilling research requests for both internal and external customers. I have held internship positions with the Arizona Historical Society at their Pioneer Museum in Flagstaff and their Museum at Papago Park in Phoenix as well as with Riordan Mansion State Historic Park in Flagstaff. These positions have given me invaluable hands-on experience in museums and historic houses and allowed me to develop skills in connecting to both internal and external clients, public relations, and verbal and written communication.

Listed skills include Museums, Art History, Social Media, Historical Research, and 9 others.
