A start-up non-profit organization that facilitates scholarships for Nicaraguans who would like to keep studying after high school, but don't have the money to do so. BECA.org (www.beca.org) pays the tuition, transportation costs, and any materials required for students, while monitoring student progress via regular visits to their schoolsAs Executive Director, I was responsible for overseeing operations and raising scholarship money for Nicaraguan students living in poverty, awarding over 250 vocational scholarships during my tenure. I also launched a high school recruiting program, increasing the number of applications per academic cycle, and secured partnerships with school directors to ensure continuity of program.
