I am a rising senior at Christopher Newport University (CNU), pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Foundations with a focus on Cybersecurity, expected to graduate in July 2025. I plan to begin my graduate studies in Cybersecurity with a Concentration in AI Security at Old Dominion University. Currently, I am a Pathways intern at NASA Langley Research Center in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).My interest in cybersecurity sparked after my honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. Education has always been vital to me. I knew I had a passion for computers and was happy to indulge in a field where technology is constantly evolving. My guidance counselor at Tidewater Community College introduced to me this area of study. I thrived in my class, earning an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in August 2021.I am active in several organizations, including the ISC² VA Peninsula Chapter, where I serve as treasurer for the Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) Latina Affiliate, and I am a student member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). At CNU, I am the outreach coordinator for the cybersecurity club and the secretary for the SWE student chapter. I possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience in delegating work and managing teams.My interests include artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and related fields. I believe data can be both a tool and a weapon and with AI's accessibility, there are significant risks involved. I believe it is essential to integrate AI Security into any risk management plan. My military background has instilled in me a sense of responsibility, and as I begin my cybersecurity career, I am committed to guarding against various cyber crimes, including AI-powered attacks, and ensuring no unauthorized access occurs without proper authority.
