It And Systems Manager
As the IT & Systems Manager for the Office of Engagement and Extension, I led half of the IT unit. The team had four direct reports and two indirect reports, and was responsible for the IT helpdesk, desktop support, IT asset management, server and network administration, application administration, and business analysis for a division of about 400 staff. My role in leading the team was coordinating team resources to be involved in projects, providing meaningful and regular feedback to team members, guiding professional development and goal-setting, clearing roadblocks to work being accomplished, listening and assisting the team when there were challenges, constraints on schedules, or a need for escalation, and remaining responsive to the needs of the team. This role was fully remote with quarterly on-site work in Fort Collins for several days at a time. Additionally, with the unexpected loss of our Director, I took on the responsibility of managing our administrative and operational budgets and worked in tandem with our IT Manager of Applications, Data, and Salesforce and Manager of the Project Management Office to provide stability and ongoing operations to our teams. I sponsored operational improvements for the division during this time such as a division-wide IT hardware inventory, merging backend systems from the unification of CSU Online and CSU Extension, reducing our local file server storage footprint by 50%, increasing visibility and access to the IT desktop support and OEE IT team services, and fostering a stronger relationship with CSU Extension regional and county-based staff. This role was challenging, exciting, engaging, and the entirety of the Office of Engagement and Extension staff and IT team were an absolute joy to work alongside.
Application Administrator / Business Analyst
My role here at CSU Online was to be the champion of the administration, development, automation and enhancement of the ITSM solution, FreshService, and the student lifecycle management solution, Destiny One. When there was a way to help others by implementing new automation, or lighten a workload by streamlining the process, that was what I strived to achieve. I would also work to introduce new departmental uses, revise and resolve pain points in procedures, and was the dedicated expert for day-to-day questions and issues.
Data Warehouse Developer
As a Data Architect/Data Warehouse Developer, one of my primary responsibilities was the development and continued support of the integration between third-party medical applications to the electronic medical record system utilizing HL7 message processing. As part of the Data Analytics team, I became a go-to resource for daily ETL automation with various applications. My knowledge of PowerShell allowed me to benefit other teams time-intensive problems with behind-the-scenes solutions, such as the conversion of older format Word and Excel documents into their newer file formats, as well as the automated conversion of PostScript files into PDFs for easier access and viewing. I worked closely with project managers, clinical informaticists and business analysts on multiple integration projects, daily troubleshooting, file automation as well as custom automation needs, and the migration from Cerner to EPIC.
Data Analyst
A Data Analyst is part of the Analytics team at Agnesian HealthCare. My primary responsibilities thus far include file automation, file auditing, scripting (batch, VBscript and Powershell) and internal and external file transfer process consolidation as well as developing and supporting the Corepoint Integration Engine for the organization.
Technical Support Engineer
As a Technical Support Engineer, I was part of a team which was responsible for the technical side of support for the circuit court system across the state. This involved travel to various county courthouses to implement new equipment, troubleshoot issues as well as installing or removing equipment as necessary. I supported programming, upgrades, and replacements of networking equipment. I also had spent time revising documentation needed for the installation and use of the digital court reporter software.
It Systems Administrator
An IT Systems Administrator works in tandem with Telecommunications, Infrastructure and Desktop Support. Responsibilities have included installation, configuration, training and third-tier support of Microsoft System Center; end-user setup, training and support of a distributed secure messaging system; technical and end-user documentation and daily mobile device and telecommunications hardware and software support. In this role I also assisted with projects such as telepharmacy, analog and digital phones, Voice over IP, networking, server installation, radio and wireless communications.
District Site Computer Technician
As a District Site Computer Technician, my primary role throughout the school year was to provide second-level support to Technology Assistants and help teachers, staff and students with their daily functions in regards to accessing and using technology. During the summer and occasionally throughout the year projects are assigned and include things such as upgrading network hardware, maintaining and updating offices and computer labs, and various other tasks.
Technology Assistant
The role of a Technology Assistant is one with many hats. The position was originally created to be a computer lab monitor nearly two decades ago. Since then it has morphed to become the first-level technical support for the entire building. This includes many things; being on top of district-wide changes and passing along information to affected users; training staff on best practices and procedures; hardware repair and maintenance; software troubleshooting; printer troubleshooting; contacting vendors for quotes on equipment and software; taking a building-wide inventory; the list goes on and on.While there were areas beyond my responsibility, namely networking, phones, and server management, there were very few restrictions placed on what I was able to do as a Technology Assistant.
