I was "the labeling guy" for Google AI Healthcare during the time I was there, and advised many teams on how to get scalable labels with high inter-rater agreement.I proposed and built the first version of a tool for labeling medical data. I started as a SWE and transitioned to Product Manager for the project. When I left the Google the project was staffed by eight people and was being utilized by dozens of separate projects for their labeling efforts.This project enabled us to define grading guidelines for diseases with low agreement and fuzzy definitions, such as glaucoma, to create high quality datasets that made machine learning possible.

(Via acquisition of Discovery Engine)I worked on the Search Quality team, and in particular on the spelling correction system. I analyzed query data to find areas in which the speller performed poorly. I incorporated new signals into the spelling correction service to increase coverage and decrease false positives.DiscoveryEngine was a general purpose web search engine. I worked primarily in search result ranking, and exclusively in C++. I designed and built the system we used to create search ranking algorithms. I also helped design and implement the system we use for gathering relevancy data from human input and measuring the relevancy of a given ranking algorithm. Other projects included building a spelling correction system, working on spam filters, and finding new signals for web site ranking.Discovery Engine was acquired by Twitter in May 2013.
