About Brian Bensch
I am a marketing and growth leader who codes. Better busy than bored, you're as likely to find me taking a zoom call from a chairlift as coding a fun new feature for Snow Schoolers at 1am on a Saturday night. I spent my early career in Google sales as a retail analyst, learning the basics of what we now call growth marketing, before starting down the path of entrepreneurial adventures. Did a coding bootcamp for 4 months (am still a modestly proficient full-stack dev). I founded and fully bootstrapped Snow Schoolers in 2016, which is now a sustainably profitable and growing small business, offering affordable and accessible ski and snowboard lessons for all ages. While it has mostly been a nights & weekends endeavor, we operate across 3 locations and 2 states today, employ a staff of nearly 50 seasonal instructors, and have taught over 23,000 students to-date to share in our love of sliding on snow. We also revived an abandoned ski area at Kingvale in 2021! While at Airbnb I led growth marketing efforts across SEM and SEO, and helped our cross-functional team of growth marketers, engineers, and data scientists to build a comprehensive growth infrastructure that scaled up to support $1B+ marketing budgets. At Hipcamp I built out a much smaller but even more sustainable growth engine across paid, seo, lifecycle, and PR. We were focused primarily on the demand side, and drove bookings growth of 150% in 2.5 years, putting us on the path to profitability. I am currently involved in a few part-time consulting engagements while exploring new opportunities.
