My first assignment as project engineer with Clayco is Karis Cold Storage located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The project consist of a 3 building site ranging from 150,000 to 450,000 sq. ft. Two of the buildings are tilt panel construction while the third will be IMP construction as it will be able to house 4 varying temperatre freezer/cooler units.

Working in the estimating department, I got to work on multiple different projects from airport estimates to GDOT bridge replacement estimates. It was very helpful to see what goes on in the pre-construction phases as much of the project planning is done in these phases, so it helps to visualize the construction process from start to finish.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering this past semester (Fall 2022). I am now wrapping up my Master of Science in Civil Engineering during my final semester at the Capstone where I am working with Dr. Yangming Shi on electric vehicle research.

I worked on the new Tennessee Children's Home campus in Spring Hill, TN for the entirety of my time. The project consisted of constructing a 26,000 sf school and six 5,000 sf group homes on a 46 acre site. While there, I took on some of the responsibilities of assistant superintendent by documenting observations of subs work on Procore, managing laborers for on-site clean-up, systems QC/QA, and confirmed and scheduled material deliveries. In addition, I took on some of the roles of assistant project engineer as well by linking RFIs to drawings via Procore, recorded meeting minutes, and documented inspection approvals.

I picked up punch list roles, attic stock inventory, and helped begin closeouts on Tru Hotel in Franklin, TN. Tru Hotel is a 5 story hotel with roughly 136 rooms, a fitness center, lobby area, and a business center.

Greater Nashville Area, Tn

This was my first professional internship where I was located at Independence High School when not in the Nashville office. At Independence High, DeAngelis Diamond was building an additional annex to the original structure to accompany for the extra 250 expected student increase. I took over documentation duties and learned how to navigate and use construction-related software like ProCore.
