I'm responsible for all aspects of client service, business development, marketing and communications for Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. Our Firm delivers business-focused legal solutions to companies at all stages of the growth cycle, with a full range of expertise in the areas of corporate law, complex business litigation and intellectual property law. We number more than 630 lawyers, working out of 19 offices in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Washington, Sweden (Stockholm), Japan (Tokyo) and China (Beijing and Shanghai). I help our lawyers and staff remain focused on developing the client service skills that drive long term, successful relationships. I work closely with firm management to set strategy, allocate resources and execute on a broad range of client focused initiatives, including robust key client and client feedback programs. I lead a team of 20+ marketing, business development and communications professionals who are dedicated to ensuring that our clients view outstanding client service and expert lawyering as the defining characteristics of Kilpatrick Townsend.

I was responsible for all aspects of marketing, business development and communications for one of the nation’s leading intellectual property law firms. As the firm’s first marketing professional at the director level, I developed a marketing plan and department structure to focus on client development and client service initiatives. Advised firm management on all aspects of marketing and business development, including opening the firm’s first international and East Coast offices.

I managed all aspects of marketing, business development and media relations in the Palo Alto and San Francisco offices of one of the world’s largest law firms. I worked closely with New York-based practice development managers to support Northern California-based lawyers in numerous practice areas, including banking and finance, private equity, corporate, global compensation, energy, project finance and infrastructure and intellectual property. I also worked with executive partners and practice group leaders in each office to identify strategic initiatives and to develop comprehensive business development plans for both offices, focusing on the development of long-term relationships with firm clients around the world.

As the firm’s first dedicated business development manager, I successfully implemented a systematic approach for responses to requests for proposal and for the creation and maintenance of the firm’s promotional materials. I conducted extensive research on new client opportunities and markets; assisted with development of strategies for attracting and retaining clients and administered rollout of the firm’s client relations database. I was also responsible for editing and publication of e-mail updates for various firm practice areas and all aspects of the development of database-driven Web site. I servied in earlier roles as communications manager (May 2000–May 2002) and client services coordinator (November 1997-May 2000) with responsibility for general marketing and communications activities including conferences and speaking engagements, attorney retreats and public relations.
