Initiated and managed a strategic reorganization the Student Council and the creation of MUSA, a new student leadership organization designed to build community, integrate student feedback into program development, improve the student experience, and facilitate student communications. All this while delivering 2x results on key metrics for most programs and taking over 20 credit hours. Yeah. I didn't sleep much, but it sure was fun!I learned how to manage and motivate large groups of volunteers; build trust with faculty and students; identify and inspire people with specific skill sets; negotiate contracts with local merchants; manage and synthesize quantitative and qualitative research; design and run effective promotions and viral marketing; stretch the budget; raise money; inspire community giving; train leaders; and set up those who follow for success. The best thing about it was knowing that we made a difference in students' and community members' lives for years to come.

I worked on a team that built their company financial statements, after which I built models to support capital raises and contract negotiations. I also designed their client support systems and processes.

and June 1998 - Aug 1998 (3 Months)Our small team of engineers and students (graduate, undergraduate, and high school) was hired to redesigned a gamma irradiation test facility that was attached to the core nuclear reactor at the INL. At one point, the irradiation facility was used to develop the world's furthest-traveling golf ball (the gamma irradiation helped harden the core of the ball). We helped make an extremely dangerous process very safe. It was both intellectually challenging and rewarding. We did extensive research and constantly engaged with company scientists, key stakeholders, researchers, and even the machinists who would eventually build the facility. We then used our learnings to create innovative designs. When we made our final proposal, the execs liked the plan, so they allocated add'l budget and built the facility. It was very exciting. The people I worked with were nothing short of brilliant and I would love to work with them again some day.
