About Brian Dail
I work with organizations to develop cultures of continuous improvement. I use a methodology that focuses on daily problem solving and empowering front line workers to identify and eliminate the barriers that are holding an area back from the next level of performance. I use Lean principles to guide this process but do not focus on the implementation of Lean tools like 5S or standard work. I instead help teams identify their performance target, make performance to the target visible, and then focus daily on removing the obstacles preventing the target from being reached. Lean and Six Sigma are problem solving tools that are taught once it is clear which problems need to be solved. I am on a mission to stop the misguided Lean implementation of forced adoption of Lean tools or attempting to drive improvement solely through Kaizen events or improvement projects. My experience in that type of Lean implementation is that it creates resentment with leaders and workers and often leads groups to conclude that Lean won't work in their unique environment. If that matches your experience with Lean I want to tell you 2 things:1) Lean is a tremendously powerful methodology that matches perfectly to your unique environment2) Implementing Lean can be an extremely fulfilling and empowering experience for you and your team but, done wrong, it can demotivate and become a barrier to continuous improvement.
Listed skills include Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Toyota Production System, and 17 others.
