Senior Calibration EngineerTriumph Motorcycles Limited Jul 2018 - Aug 2021Hinckley, United KingdomSince early 2017 I have been the lead engineer responsible for the calibration and development of the Torque Control Strategies and Traction Control Systems, including Throttle Maps for all models at Triumph and have recently been promoted to reflect this additional level of responsibility. Some of my main projects to date have been the 2018 Speed Triple RS, which was the first Triumph to fully utilise an IMU for both Cornering Traction Control and Wheelie Control. For 2019 I completed the Scrambler 1200 XC and XE, which was the first 2 cylinder Triumph with off-road TCS. For 2020 I calibrated the flagship Rocket 3, Street Triple 765 and Daytona 765 Moto2 Traction Control Systems.My main responsibilities include:-Development and calibration of the traction control systems, throttle modes and cruise control, the subsequent testing and approval for production release.-Organising, coordinating and attending circuit tests.-Test riding on and off road to complete motorcycle evaluation for traction control systems, throttle modes, cruise control, wheelie control and quick shifter systems.-Data acquisition, analysis and calculation using Kehin Logali5, GEMS Data Analysis, SYSMA, WinTAX4, K-Tool and 2D WinARace. -Rider feedback analysis.-Development of new software control strategies.-Liaising with the design, development, engine test cell, homologation teams and test riders for their feedback.-First Aid Trained for when testing needs to be completed in remote areas or facilities such as Bruntingthorpe where no medic is available. -
Calibration EngineerTriumph Motorcycles Limited Jul 2015 - Jun 2018Hinckley, United KingdomThe complete calibration of engine and chassis management systems for both the 2016 Triumph Bonneville T120 and 2017 Triumph Street Triple R 765 which compromised of full responsibility for all aspects of calibration relating to: fuel, ignition, injection staging, drive by wire throttle maps, driveability, emissions control, hot and cold ambient starting, knock testing, altitude compensations and fuel gauge calibration. -Data acquisition, analysis and calculation using Kehin Logali5, K-Tool and 2D WinARace. -Rider feedback analysis.-World market emissions control, meeting and exceeding Euro 4 homologation requirements.-Sole operation of the rolling road and emissions test cell, both for calibration development and VCA witnessed homologation tests.-Development of new software control strategies.-Liaising with the design, development, engine test cell and homologation teams.-Test riding on and off road for motorcycle assessment for driveability, cruise control and throttle maps/modes.
