Dr. Brian Davison is Professor and Chair of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Lehigh. He co-founded the MS program in Data Science and the MS program in Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience, co-founded Lehigh's Center for Catastrophe Modeling, and previously served as associate director of the Institute for Data, Intelligent Systems and Computation. He teaches courses on data science, and has taught a variety of others, including data mining, search engines, web mining, and networking. He currently serves as senior associate editor for the ACM journal Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, and as associate editor for Frontiers in Big Data, Data Mining and Management Section. While on sabbatical during the 2013-2014 academic year, he worked in the Core Data Science group at Facebook. Dr. Davison earned his B.S. from Bucknell University and has an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University. His research includes search, mining, recommendation and classification problems in text, on datasets, and on the Web. He is an NSF Faculty Early CAREER award winner. Dr. Davison's research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Microsoft, and Sun.
