I got my start by looking for a position -- any position -- at a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving the world (yes -- I was, and still am, an idealist). That job just happened to be in digital advocacy. And as it turned out, I was good at it.More than a decade later, I’ve led teams of idealists looking to improve the world through technology and grassroots organizing. And now I’ve got years of experience and a continued curiosity that has contributed to a diverse set of skills. Need your product to raise more money or connect more supporters to their elected officials? Let’s strategize. Need to streamline a complicated user experience? I already have ideas. Need to translate tech requirements to developers, or developer jargon to stakeholders? I’m parked in the middle of that Venn diagram and ready to nerd out.I’m excited by this work because progress requires constantly striving to do things better. It requires innovating. It requires adapting. It requires a big-picture vision and attention to minute details. It also requires leaning into what it turns out you’re good at.
