Having completed 2 years of a three year course and look to complete my third year with the open university starting October 2016

Being responsible for a section within the business and making sure that section was clean tidy and that all food and/or drinks orders were completed and/or any customer queries were dealt with.

I started off as a kitchen porter which included shifts of up to 12 hours this taught me alot about the value of time management as it could get rather busy during lunch time. During the quieter times whilst I was working I was given many oppertunities to help out and learn new skills to do with the position of chef de partie. I found great enjoyement in excelling in my job so that i could assist the chefs in theirs. Eventually I was promoted through my hard work and persaverence becoming a valued memeber of the team and being given responsibilities where i had to run my own section for an entire summer period! The responsilibility that was given me helped me to mature alot and my interpersonal skills improved as a result. However eventually I had commitments that meant i could not work full time in that position but was able to remain in the team as i was able to train one of my co-workers in my duties and we shared the job so i could continue with my A-levels this taught me alot about leadership and my team working improves as a result.I only left this job to explore my future oppertunities at university.
