After 11 years as a Software Engineer, I'm taking a step back to assess my next career move. In my time as a SWE, I organically leaned into technical communication, team coordination, cross-team alignment, and technical writing, all while honing an extreme attention to detail and eye toward quality. My dedication in the field has run deep, so I am now pulling back to reflect, explore, and learn how I can next apply these skills in a truly fulfilling way.

A founding engineer, de facto Technical Program Manager, and tech lead on Box Notes: a real-time, collaborative note taking app. Key accomplishments:• Orchestrated convergence of 4 cross-functional, duplicative storage efforts that jeopardized data governance; identified the gap across teams and steered one unified & compliant solution, saving >1 year of wasteful engineering investment.• Spearheaded 2.5 year effort to replace Box Notes’s mission-critical editor (50K+ lines) with a modern framework (ProseMirror). Influenced execs on the need for change, composed specs and success criteria, evaluated 12 OSS contenders on 20+ web/quality/i18n/accessibility standards, delegated priorities across 15 engineers, & reported value and status to leadership. Unlocked 75% more feature build velocity while eliminating deep-rooted data integrity gaps.• Coordinated 5 critical eng-wide initiatives (25+ people) to leverage the new editor tech; rectified exec level disagreements on ownership and prioritization via partnering with engaged teams to define a lightweight variant buildable in 1 month for urgent needs, while rallying buy-in to unify solutions in the next year.• Managed hundreds of data integrity customer escalations for Box Notes. Coached CS on plays to self-remediate 75%+ of cases & owned eng runbooks; established a pipeline to collate all occurrences under tech debt, then presented the high cost over time to leadership, swaying them to invest.• Aligned and tech led Eng & Business Analytics orgs (30+ people) around a shared product analytics pipeline (Amplitude) & steered 5+ teams to adoption.• Mediated tech alignment in 3 org-wide eng architecture advisory committees.• Owned Box Notes eng Northstar & tech debt backlogs with >200 initiatives tracked while guiding Scrum & DevOps and growing the team from 6 in-person to 15 remote engineers across US & EU. Monitored key tech risks across the team & org and synthesized to define priorities. Grew WAUs by over 100%.

Launched & scaled Box Notes to hundreds of thousands of WAUs while leading Box's broader engineering org toward cross-functionally aligned features and shared, modern JS & Node.js best practices.• Steered frontend org (~40 engineers) on adopting React within preexisting event-bus paradigms & championed a Design Language to ensure consistency.• Aligned 3+ core API teams in expanding file-level collaboration, which Box Notes pioneered, across all file types, drastically scaling collaboration on Box.• Pioneered DevOps in the org: coached ownership mindset as Box Notes managed its entire pipeline, on-call, metrics, QA, and customer escalations.• Built Box’s initial Node.js SDK, which powers Box Notes, Box’s mobile web app (4M+ MAU), dozens of internal apps, and thousands of 3rd party apps.• Implemented OSS Etherpad Lite editor on top of Box and hardened its real-time layers to handle tens of thousands of edits/min on web, mobile (webview), & desktop (Electron).

Fullstack upkeep of Box’s login, signup, billing, and user acquisition frameworks. Implemented a scalable PHP+JS framework to power Box’s marketing website, handling 2M+ monthly visitors and enabling the launch of new pages and campaigns 86% faster (2 weeks → 2 days). Deployed >100 modernized pages.

Assisted in managing 10 student employees providing computer repair, networking, virus removal, and general tech support to all RIT students and staff. Re-architected the in-house ticketing app that tracks the thousands of PCs that have been in Resnet’s care to follow modern LAMP stack best practices. Management of RIT computer registrations and residential network.
