My current work focuses on developing innovative chemistries in the area of digital print as it relates to industrial labeling and signage.I have experience formulating with a variety of solvent and water-borne chemistries for forced-air curing, including WB emulsions/dispersions, PVOH/PVP, phenoxy, thermosetting PU (acrylic/alkyd/polyester-based), amino (e.g. melamine-formaldehyde), UV (acrylate). I am also familiar with older technologies, e.g. high Mw, low solids solvent-based varnishes. One of my strengths is rapid learning/application of new chemistries in combination with a structured problem-solving approach. I am particularly interested in the development of high-solids, low VOC solventborne/solventless coatings.I am an Excel+VBA power user and have developed programmatic approaches to automate parts of the formulation development and documentation process.I use and mentor others in design for manufacturability/six sigma tools, with a special focus on designed experiments and the use of Monte Carlo simulation to demonstrate process capability. JMP is my preferred software package, but I am also proficient with Minitab. Show less
