About Brian Grace
My career in brewing has been a testament to my creative passion and ability to grow and solve problems in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. With the skills needed to earn a B.S. in Geology I was able to adapt that knowledge of scientific theory and familiarity with laboratory equipment to create a QA/QC department in one of my first brewing jobs. This helped the company to confidently package and distribute finished product with the knowledge that the products on the shelves were stable, thus giving customers brand confidence. Throughout my career there have always been challenges I have faced and overcame ranging from managing difficult employees to equipment failures and hard to meet deadlines. Meeting these challenges and successfully learning from them have giving me a lot of practical and creative expertise in problem solving, management and facility maintenance that are relevant to many industries. Throughout my career in brewing I have run the gamete of managing or involvement in almost all aspects and levels of developing, running and managing a production facility. From product development, process equipment, maintenance, logistics, scheduling, managing, data collection and QA/QC I have always enjoyed finding better or more cost effective ways to achieve the goals of the company. I also believe in being a good steward of the natural environment. My education in Geology was punctuated by a senior thesis working to build a better culvert to aid in fish passageways and my jobs at the Regional Water Quality Control Board and the Alameda County Water District have given me a deep appreciation for the need to consider the natural environment in all aspects of my life.
