    I am a PJM Certified Transmission System Operator and Generation Dispatcher currently involved in dispatching generation in the PJM and NY ISO. I have been learning how to conduct real-time power trades in NYISO, PJM, and MISO.My job includes analyzing the Day Ahead and Real Time Markets in order to maximize profit for my company while meeting all requirements for the respective operating areas. I also dispatch in PJM’s Ancillary Markets.Dispatched and operated simple cycle and combined cycle natural gas power plants and coal power plants via radio, telephone, and SCADA remote computer terminal. I was given authority to bring on generation speculatively, as well as in support of power grid reliability. I operated over 2500 MW in 5 states, with operations and maintenance teams at each site. I was responsible for monitoring and reporting our power plants’ “on dispatch” performance and making notifications to the engineers on needed improvements. Submitted price and cost schedules, marketed spinning reserves and AGC/regulation services to the market. Reacted to power emergencies and activated reserves to support reliability.I used production theory economics to save our operations several hundred thousand dollars per year through more efficient use of our transmission assets and fuel supply. (On-Dispatch)I worked directly with Conectiv’s gas schedulers.
