Consultant to Southwest Airlines – Dallas, TX (July 2015 – April 2019)CSM/PMP within the Aircraft Operations Technical divisionFor this engagement, Brian performed as a CSM/PMP using the Agile continuous development and release methodology for a team managing a suite of applications supporting the flight operations and aircraft maintenance divisions • Lead the team to perform a major upgrade of the live ground-to-aircraft networked communications system: a critical ‘Required To Fly’ application supporting flight operations. This required a parallel E2E systems rebuild, while maintaining & enhancing the live systems.• Separately coordinated technical efforts to define and replace the aging 700+ RHEL5 flight controller PC workstations with new RHEL7 replacements within the flight control center, backup operations center, and the development/support teams.• Deployed a major Boeing software package (LSAPL) to allow flight log information downloads and aircraft computer system remote software uploads, using cellular technologies, requiring strict two-way authentication certificates from end to end, to support the newest Boeing 737-MAX class of aircraft.• Initially, Brian was contracted by SWA to lead a separate production support team focused on quick enhancements of the SWIFT application; used by the aircraft flight operations controllers for flight scheduling and flight operations; before being extended and transferred to the new team.

Brian performed a variety of roles with increasing management responsibility from that of a technical development lead, to a Manager of Software Engineering with the increasing responsibility to provide management and Project Management oversight to four parallel development teams with additional interdepartmental coordination and support duties to the sales, consulting and support teams for the development of the suite of applications he managed.• Development Liaison for several multi-million dollar client implementations, providing SOW reviews, functional reviews, implementation issues analysis, and coordination of local R&D resources as needed to guarantee successful client implementations in conjunction with the Trizetto Professional Services division.• Researched and developed strategy for using VMWare virtual hosted environments to reduce dependence on physical systems. This increased overall development and QA productivity while also decreasing overhead and infrastructure expenses. Other development and support units began replicating the methodologies for their own use.
