I’m a markets guy. My first career after college was on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. From “runner” to Exchange Member. Crazy fun and a first-hand start into how markets work – hand-to-hand combat. The next step in “marketplace school” was a leap to the other side. Jumped into a suit for a commission job selling taxable fixed-income securities at Kidder Peabody & Co. At the time, it was the largest supplier of mortgage-backed securities in the world.After living “The Big Short”, it was now time to go it alone. It was during the tech boom, so I learned the art of trading initial public offerings (IPOs). That “career” was fun and profitable but ended abruptly in 2001 when the tech bubble burst. These experiences led to the founding of Exchange Properties in late 2001. The Company later became teardowns.com, a local platform for connecting builders and consumers with sellers whose homes were destined for redevelopment. The alternative marketplace and brokerage model was an immediate success, resulting in the opening of offices in targeted markets throughout the U.S. After the meltdown of 2008 we made a change in our business model, redesigning our platform’s software, we relaunched as a vendor. The Company now offers licensing opportunities to real estate brokers, their agents, as well as builders and investors for lead generation and unique transaction strategies.I’m a contrarian at heart and enjoy challenging the status quo. Personally? Married (36 years) with four children, always with a dog, sometimes with cats. I enjoy sunshine, friends, family and being on or near the water. :)
