I am an occupational therapist with 25+ years of clinical and research experience in the management of children with cerebral palsy. I spent the first 20 years of my career as a clinical occupational therapist at Monash Children’s Hospital, Melbourne where I helped to establish the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS). I completed a PhD at La Trobe University in 2010 and undertook an invited post-doctoral fellowship at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden in 2011. I currently hold an Adjunct Associate Professor position within the School of Occupational Therapy, LaTrobe University and Australian Catholic University. I also hold an adjunct Senior Research Fellowship position within the Department of Paediatrics at Monash University.I am the Founder and Director of the Cerebral Palsy Group Pty Ltd (CPGroup) which incorporates CPTherapy, Australia’s largest cerebral palsy private practice, and CPTeaching which provides high-quality education that focuses on the translation of research findings into clinical practice. Over the last decade, I have personally taught over 2500 clinicians about the implementation of evidence-based upper limb assessment and therapy for children with cerebral palsy. In 2024, the CPGroup purchased the intellectual property rights for the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), mini-Assisting Hand Assessment (Mini-AHA), Hand Assessment for Infants (HAI), and Both Hands Assessment (BoHA). These tools are the most frequently used tests for informing clinical work as well as research studies for children with cerebral palsy around the world. I am also the founder and Director of CPToys Pty Ltd which uses technology to improve the focus and outcomes of therapy programs for children with cerebral palsy.
