As the director of FP&A at Maverik I develop individuals, teams, programs, systems, and processes across the organization to promote financial acumen, understanding, and accountability. I have fun engaging with leaders and team members at our Basecamp HQ and in the field to improve everything we do to support the growth and success of over 400 retail locations in 12 states. Maverik has an industry leading finance organization that continues to innovate in the areas of Financial Planning, Business Intelligence, Customer Research, and Data Analytics.I have had the exciting opportunity to play a key role in the acquisition of Kum&Go and Solar Transportation in 2023, effectively doubling the size of our organization. I was able to assist throughout the due diligence process, deal structuring, closing, and the sale of a valuable portfolio of 11 Maverik locations due to regulatory input. The divestiture of these stores was completed, from offer to deal close, in 35 days, which required an immense amount of communication, coordination, organization, negotiation, and caffeine. The challenge and complexity associated with the integration of these two iconic brands in the Retail Convenience industry has been formative. Combining Maverik and Kum&Go into a unified 1Adventure has brought our footprint to over 800 stores in 20 states. This has been an exciting growth opportunity that has been both challenging and very rewarding.

I assumed this role during a leadership transition on the FP&A team. In this role I took primary leadership for the annual planning process at Maverik as well as managing the rapid growth of the Maverik finance team.

In this role I supported the director of FP&A and the CFO in generating and analyzing weekly, monthly, and annual reports. I worked closely with the Real Estate and Construction teams to build financial models for a variety of projects to improve efficiency and consistently measure ROI for real estate opportunities. I worked on a broad range of assignments and self driven projects to forecast future performance, asses historical data, trends, and events and how they impact our business. I love to find areas in the business that can be improved and come up with creative solutions to make positive changes happen. Maverik has been an exciting and challenging experience and I am very excited to be part of this rapidly growing organization.

At Weber State University I have taught courses on Investments, and Corporate Finance. It is so fun to be back at the place where my passion for education and continued learning was born.

I taught a course on financial modeling to graduates students in the MSF, MBA, and MSBA programs. The course focused on building dynamic financial models that can be used in a variety of corporate settings to understand, explain, and improve how companies operate and invest resources. I continue to enjoy opportunities to engage with students and faculty at the U for guest lectures and presentations whenever possible.

Absolutely loved working with the good people at the University of Utah Continuing Education department to develop the Financial Management Certificate. The whole process of designing, developing, and launching a new certificate, with a solid group of instructors, has been a very rewarding experience for me. It was exciting to work with a progressive bunch of people to bring innovative educational options to the Salt Lake City area.

At BLJ Inc. I spent my time managing a complex investment portfolios. At BLJ we use a mix of traditional and complex options strategies to limit risk and provide consistent returns year over year. I was the lead manager in the development, design, and implementation of a new web-based portfolio management application www.investats.com. I spent the rest of my time investigating business opportunities, trading strategies, and making sure things ran smoothly. I interacted frequently with legal council, business advisers, and accounting professionals to maintain compliance and good business practices.

I built Investats.com to eliminate many of the frustrations surrounding the management of complex options portfolios across many brokerage accounts. The system provided a centralized, cloud-based, watch-list of portfolio positions with only relevant statistical outputs to simplify the decision making process.
