Led two specialized teams (observability and cybersecurity) within the Cloud Infrastructure group. Built both practices from scratch, handling hiring/internal transfers, team definitions, workflows, and interactions. These teams worked within the Cloud Infrastructure group as well as with teams across the company.Worked with vendors and other stakeholders to make these practices a success, including Datadog, Honeycomb, corporate security, corporate audit, external auditors, and federal government regulators.In addition, continued to handle the day-to-day needs of the former Geezeo group, as they continued their post-acquisition integration with the rest of the company.

​Served as liaison between my business unit and the S&P 500 corporation that acquired us, guiding us through the transition from independent company to be part of the larger organization. Worked with stakeholders across the corporation and organized multiple projects toward these goals.Led the division through compliance audits and mitigation, including FFIEC (US federal government) and SOC Parts 1 and 2.​Supervised and mentored three direct reports, and filled in as Acting Director, Software Engineering and Services, whenever my boss was away, taking direct leadership of the entire technology team.Managed a cloud-based stack and worked with stakeholders across the company to implement best security and design practices, guiding the future of cloud technology at JHA.

​Led a team of 15 technology professionals (in a directing, but non-supervisory, role), including developers, system administrators, and designers, handling day-to-day direction and tactical planning.Worked directly with the Chief Technology Officer and the Vice President, Operations to decide and implement priorities and longer-term plans.​Mentored a team of three junior staff--one developer, one systems administrator, and one QA engineer--to help them learn the trade and find success in their first job.​Assisted the CTO and CEO in performing due diligence, security audits, and many other tasks, leading to the successful sale of the start-up to an S&P 500 company.

​Designed and implemented a series of tools to automate maintenance of a growing AWS cluster (from 50 to over 150 instances), including using the Ruby fog library, Puppet, various AWS tools, and homebrewed Ruby and bash scripts.​Replaced parts of our server stack with automated instances that, watching various metrics, would spawn, bootstrap, pull in configuration files, and start working, then terminate when done, leading to better cost efficiency.​Replaced an 8-day-long MySQL query (not written by me) with an Elastic MapReduce job that takes an hour.​Aided the development team in maintenance and growth of our application.

Ran an IT department of one; I handle the 200+ servers, the datacentre and server room, corporate IT, and basically anything else computer-related except for development (and I did some of that, too). I handled the planning, purchasing, and execution of IT for idée.In addition, I helped run systems and networking (as well as general assistance) for Hackdays (http://www.hackdays.ca/), a series of developer events across Canada.

Helped lead a team of four, managing 300+ servers across two datacentres. Built an entire operating platform for taking servers from bare metal to operational, then monitoring them for changes and maintaining patches/vulnerabilities. Handled both software and hardware for the systems.

Administered source control systems, handled backups, and assisted in other IT needs as developer support for Square Enix America's mobile gaming division (UIEvolution).

I manage the servers and systems for the Health Sciences Libraries and the state and federal sub-groups within. This requires a lot of Linux--we've even got Linux spilling out all over the floor here. There's so much cat-5 that the servers have grown tentacles.

I was the systems administrator for a virtual ISP. I worked in a tech department of 5, led by the senior sysadmin, with me, an app developer, and two customer service people.
