Having just completed another iteration of strategic planning based on community needs that inform our strategic priorities, we are reinventing ourselves and our services to meet changing demographics, changing technologies and changing customer service expectations with a focus on partnering with our customers, with non-profits, with the business community and with local governments. Maryland is a model of collaborative, state-wide library resource sharing, thanks to MAPLA, the Maryland Association of Public Library Administrators. Through it, the directors and associate directors from Maryland's county and regional library systems meet four times a year (two are overnights) to strategize ways to enhance resource sharing in the State.

Managed the delivery of customer services from the Rockville Regional Library, the County Archives and the Detention Center Library. Built the county's very first resource sharing LAN, long before the Web obviated such needs. Coordinated MCDPL's implementation of Sailor, Maryland's Web-based resource-sharing initiative. My six years in Anne Arundel County culminated with managing the Provinces Library building project from plan approvals, hiring and training a new staff, opening on-time and under-budget through its first anniversary of service to the public. Anchor for a shopping center, Provinces had a number of "firsts", now commonplace in public libraries, such as the provision of public access PCs.
