About Brian Case, Cfp®
From selling stamp collector starter kits recycled from interoffice mail from my physician-grandfather’s nursing home business at age 13 to founding a wealth management business, my journey through entrepreneurship has been wide-ranging, exciting, and educational. I've launched eight companies, successfully sold six, and weathered the challenges of closing two. I have had the opportunity to invest in industries ranging from commercial real estate to medical device startups. My connection with the medical community deepened in my twenties when I invested with physicians in my bicycle retail ventures. My pivot to financial services was influenced by a mentor who had the endorsement of a regional medical association. This mentorship helped me better refine my approach to serving physicians and their distinct financial needs. My relationship with my wife, whom I met during her Residency, gave me an inside look at young doctors' challenges, from financial responsibilities to student loan debts. It became clear that physicians often put their heads down in high school and ignore other important subjects – like the language of business and finance.Over more than 20 years, I started, grew, and eventually sold a wealth management business. While it wasn't exclusively for physician families, due to my connections and expertise, we predominantly catered to their unique financial needs. This business began as a typical one-person practice and grew substantially to include a team of financial advisors, para-planners, marketing experts, and administrative staff. This growth from an approach to a business allowed us to serve our clients better, particularly the physician families who faced distinct financial challenges. Now, using what I've learned, I'm on a mission to improve the financial well-being of physician families:• I'm coaching select financial advisors on how to build a scalable and salable business to serve and attract physician families – or whomever they are on a mission to help.• I'm directly engaging with large groups of physicians to improve their financial literacy and positively impact their overall well-being.• I aim to bridge communication gaps by helping physicians and financial advisors understand each other better – making physicians “financially literate” and (critically) making advisors “physician literate.”Physician burnout and stress are significant issues:"Over 40% of physicians report signs of burnout." (Medscape Report)"Physicians have a suicide rate nearly two times higher than the US average." (Journal of Medical Regulation)

I fell in love with a RI girl who just had to open her own restaurant… so, I helped her and ran back and forth to The Gathering in West Springfield, MA to pay the bills. We were young and didn’t make it but the restaurant did - with her parents help.
Waiter —> Head Waiter —> Bartender
This was one of the best experiences of my life. I was trained how to serve at a high end restaurant while navigating the cooks, bartenders and hosts. We pooled tips and I regularly walked out with $1K per shift. I used this money to start my own restaurant… more on that later.
Emerging Entrepreneur
I won the regional competition and was sent to the national competition in New Orleans… what an experience!
Co-Founder
I started playing keyboards in a cover band and when that didn’t work out, pivoted to use my equipment and record collection to DJ local school dances, college parties and a few downtown bars.
Co-Founder
I was playing high school hockey and there was no place in town to get my skates sharpened and buy supplies. So, I started a hockey shop in the bike shop and it was a hit!
Dish Dog —> Assistant Manager
Started as a “dish dog” while working in the bike shop. My claim to fame was cleaning the dish room right after school and covering all the services with plastic wrap so I could pull it up at closing and be the first person out!
Head Mechanic And Commissioned Sales
I started working for the new owner of a bike shop I was buying parts from when he asked me how long it would take to assemble a bike. My answer was 2-3 hours because I didn’t know they came mostly assembled from the factory! My first trial Saturday, I probably built a dozen bikes and earned three bucks an hour! Needless to say, I was hired!
Founder
It all started with babysitting for my neighbors and quickly grew to managing other neighborhood sitters. So, I suppose, my first business development and management roles!
Co-Founder
My grandfather was one of the last generations of physician entrepreneurs. He and I soaked postage stamps off interoffice mail and packaged them as stamp collector starter kits that we sold in the back of Boys’ Life Magazine. It’s how I made enough money to open my own bike shop!
Founder & Bike Mechanic
I started bike racing and ended up working on my friends bikes in my cellar.
