I am a Principal at The Ad Hoc Group, where I assist clients with navigating regulated industries through regulatory strategy and market development. I am dedicated to evolving the energy industry in a way that will overcome the climate crisis by utilizing the potential actions of all people and companies. I have extensive experience with demand response, electricity markets, energy storage, and zero-emission vehicles. My skills as a policy specialist are augmented by my background in civil engineering and economics.After graduating Stanford University with a double-major in Civil Engineering and Economics, I worked for two years as a Research Assistant for Professor Frank Wolak. My primary role was to model and analyze electricity markets, and I taught myself several data analytics programs to assist my research. The work I did on electricity markets furthered an interest in energy policy, and after two years I returned to Stanford University as a graduate student to study Public Policy, with a focus on energy policy.As a graduate student I continued to work for Professor Wolak's Program on Energy and Sustainable Development while conducting research for the Stanford Graduate School of Business on existing energy storage technologies and its potential markets. I also engaged with zero-emission vehicles, including working with a team of three other graduate students along with the California Governor's Office of Planning and Research on policies to accelerate zero-emission vehicle uptake.My undergraduate experience at Stanford included involvement with the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band. I spent one year leading the trumpet section, and then took on a two-year management position. In the first year I served as an Assistant Manager, and in the second year, as Manager, I directed and led the entire organization. While I was an undergraduate I also worked as a tour guide, with a promotion to Student Manager.At OhmConnect I was responsible for market origination and revenue and policy engagement. I participated in stakeholder proceedings held at the California Public Utilities Commission and the California Independent System Operator. Market operation responsibilities included directing a project to transition bidding and dispatch operations to full automation. I led on key initiatives, including the availability of data sharing between customers and third-parties and expansion into the Ontario and Texas markets. I was also responsible for market origination, primarily through the sale of OhmConnect's resource capacity.
