Environmental, Health and Safety, and Security Manager at Green Plains Atkinson, LLC, a subsidiary of Green Plains, Inc (GPRE), after being promoted from EHSS Assistant after four months with Green Plains.Began each day with a morning meeting to align objectives across departments and discuss daily and weekly goals, upcoming projects, etc. Tracked metrics for safety, including, employee training, completed safety drills, recent incidents, etc. Organized quarterly training for 45 employees, and monitor progress of monthly online employee safety training. Lead drills for practicing emergency evacuation for fire, tornadoes, etc. Inspect facility grounds for unsafe employees, contractors, or conditions. Respond to incidents immediately and follow up each incident with an investigation, leading to a corrective action (retraining, spill cleanup, employee write up, and so on). Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly SPCC and SWPPP inspections, also inspect facility lifting equipment, electrical rooms on a monthly basis. Completed quarterly DMR with submission to Dept. of Environmental Quality for NPDES permit based on monthly water sample. Worked with Logistics to gather data for input into monthly air emissions tracker for site air permit compliance. Worked with Maintenance to ensure all contractors are prequalified for safety and trained before arriving onsite, and greet contractors when they arrive to ensure contractors are ready to begin work safely.

Environmental, Health and Safety, and Security Assistant at Green Plains Bluffton, LLC, a subsidiary of Green Plains, Inc (GPRE). As a producer of ethanol and corn-related byproducts of the ethanol production process, primary duties focused on exceeding compliance goals for air and water operating permits, including Title V and NPDES, as laid out in plant-specific plans.Completed daily, weekly, and monthly inspections across the facility in accordance with safety and environmental programs. Inspections included Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP), Hazardous Waste Management, safety shower/eyewash, safe work permits. Supervised employee inspection of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fall protection equipment, CO¬2 Scrubber, site security, and fugitive dust. Organized EHS file management system of both hard files and digital files (digital files managed using Microsoft SharePoint). Responsible for ensuring all compliance documents (inspections, reports from/to regulatory agencies) were in both file systems. Worked with Maintenance Manager to correct any safety deficiencies found during inspection or third-party audit. Reviewed and edited environmental and safety program documents under direction of Sr. EHSS Manager. Studied data trends of CO2 scrubber and Thermal Oxidizer to ensure Title V air permit compliance. Collected a weekly water sample to test compliance for NPDES permit with monthly discharge monitoring reports (DMR) to the state.

Worked through the Facilities Maintenance department to construct four urban community gardens across the home office campus. Joined the project just after materials were purchased, and oversaw the construction, planting, care taking, and harvest of the gardens. Three of the four gardens were dedicated to Erie-based volunteer groups, who would maintain the gardens after support from Erie Insurance Group. The final garden was designated for home office employees, with volunteer efforts and harvest donation coordinated by the intern.
