I investigated signaling pathways downstream of the human aldose reductase enzymes in an effort to forge a mechanistic link between diabetes-related alterations in sugar metabolism, cataract, tissue hypoxia, inflammation, and potentially diabetic's increased cancer risk.

I was involved in a large team effort to understand the role of various populations of so-called "cancer stem cells" or tumor initiating cells in the development of anti-androgen resistance and relapse after hormone ablation therapy, and using bioinformatics approaches to identify genes critical to these processes.
