Recruited to direct and oversee the Network and Security Operations group consisting of up to 8 IT professionals for the Business and Financial Services units at UCSD including Payroll, General Accounting, Disbursements, Office of Post Award Financial Services, Central Cashiers, Mail Services, Student Business Services, Procurement and Contracts, etc. Responsible for the strategic, operational, and architecture of Information Technologies, including policies and procedures, documentation, and management of Network and Security Infrastructure for 80+ servers and 350+ workstations.Key Projects & Achievements• Established network infrastructure policies and procedures, documentation, and change management systems to effectively deploy, manage, and monitor performance and security of the BFS network and security infrastructure.• Collaborated with customers, stakeholders, and users to upgrade numerous core business system applications including: campus check processing systems, financial drill down applications, proprietary document management system, cashiers remittance applications, campus shipping applications, etc.• Implemented core customer service improvements to help desk operations and provided sysadmin training programs which raised internal customer satisfaction scores from 3.5 to 4.1 during the first year.• Upgraded and/or replaced all of the major network and security systems reducing operating budget by more than 50% during the first 3 years.• Performed security audits of all systems, collaborating with campus ACT Security staff to improve security of client, server, and VLAN infrastructures.
