    Airline captain flying the Airbus 320/321. As an airline pilot I am responsible for the safe and economic operation and management of the Airbus 320/321 aircraft carrying passengers for hire. I am responsible for making sure that all aircraft systems are working properly, checking weather conditions and liaising with air traffic control. My position is in no way routine and demands unconventional hours in a very complex workplace. I am directly responsible for pre-flight preparation, filing flight plans and calculating fuel required, taking into consideration meteorological information and passenger and cargo loads. I am additionally required to liaise with operational control staff, maintenance and cabin crew and check that the aircraft and its systems are prepared for departure. Between take-off and landing I operate and navigate the aircraft, communicate with air traffic control, listen to weather reports, monitor engines and systems, check fuel consumption, and advises passengers on the progress of their flight. My duties are shared with a co-pilot with whom is under my command. After landing, when the aircraft has been taxied to the gate, I am responsible for writing any and all flight irregularity reports required.
