As General Counsel of Save the Children US, I lead a team of legal, ethics, risk, and safeguarding experts in support of Save the Children's mission. I also provide strategic advice to the boards, senior management, and staff of Save the Children US, Save the Children Action Network, and Save the Children Head Start. As Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Save the Children US, I advised senior management and the Board of Trustees on operational matters related to domestic and international programs and advocacy initiatives, and I managed a core team of in-house attorneys, paralegals, and outside counsel. Key accomplishments include updating and strengthening the agency’s compliance program, leading legal efforts related to the launch of Save the Children Action Network, a 501(c)(4) organization, and recruiting and developing talented legal staff to support the agency’s mission in the United States and around the world. I also served as Acting General Counsel, from December 2014 to April 2015 and from September to November 2020.

As Vice President and Counsel at the Endeavor Group, a boutique consultancy and law firm, I provided legal and strategic advice to leading philanthropists, investors, foundations, and corporations. During this time, I represented clients in a wide range of charitable, advocacy, and commercial initiatives, oversaw the formation and governance of private foundations and public charities, developed and executed a strategy for the distribution of $12 million for earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti, and managed relationships with international humanitarian organizations and domestic charities.

In Pakistan and Afghanistan, I assisted in the launch of IRC's first field-level Protection Unit, developed and managed programs to monitor and respond to the humanitarian and human rights challenges facing returning Afghan refugees and internally displaced persons, and designed and conducted training programs for hundreds of Afghan government officials as well as UN and NGO staff.

In the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, I helped to secure funding for IRC’s primary health care, rural infrastructure, water, sanitation, and shelter projects, developed a program to expand and improve services provided by Congolese organizations to survivors of torture and sexual and gender-based violence, and designed strategies for integrating human rights protection more fully into IRC’s humanitarian activities.
