Co-taught a graduate level course at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs during Fall 2014 and Fall 2016. "The Art & Science of Political Campaigns" (PA 5990, Sec. 1) explores both what happens during campaigns and its impact on governing. The course is designed to not just introduce core concepts around political strategy.

Participated in strategic development and decision-making process regarding all major issues including $30 billion state general fund budget. Managed and supervised 11 person communications and citizen outreach team. Oversaw communications efforts of more than 30 state.

Advised the Governor on communications issues. Planned long and short-term marketing and communications strategies. Lead efforts on major press events such as the State of the State Address and budget presentation. Took a leave of absence to serve in same role for Governor Pawlenty’s successful 2006 re-election campaign.

Served as Governor’s chief spokesman. Available 24/7 to deliver direct responses to the media on behalf of the Governor. Worked with coalition partners to find speaking engagements and opportunities to deliver the Governor’s message.

Oversaw campaign committee operations for Governor Pawlenty. Assisted with fundraising. Handled outreach and staffed Governor at political events. Traveled to 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City and facilitated media activities.

Responsible for government affairs efforts representing more than 1,000 businesses in Twin Cities western suburbs. Assisted in development of issue positions including property tax reform, transportation funding, health care reform and education accountability.
