Responsible for the design, development and marketing of the World's first 'BUSINESS NETWORKING Relationship Management' System - 'GEM Business Networking'. It's a little like 'Social Networking' meets CRM. Contact Management - beyond CRM, simple enough for your Xmas card list, yet powerful enough for the largest enterprise. Unlike earlier generations of CRM, On2it-GEM, does not simply treat your Contacts as unconnected items in a list. It understands, and makes use of, all the interconnections that exist in the real-world, between everyone in your database. It never duplicates anyone’s record - or even phone numbers! It remembers who else shares the same details instead!This started out as an exercise to see whether the approach used in RegRAM could be used for Business Systems in general. Usually, systems start out with a definition of what the system is to do and its interface, in order to design an underlying supporting database. We started out from the bottom - a database that describes ALL the Entity Types in the real world and ALL the Relationships between them. We then worked on how to get the information in, and what we could use it for. ‘Ass about face’ system design, if you like - but it works! For if we want to add something new to the system, there is usually somewhere to add it in, without restructuring what has already been done. This is almost the Holy Grail of Systems Development! As most systems fail, shortly after completion, when users start adding new requirements on top of what has already been done. This is a little like wanting to add some new stories on top of a skyscraper when the foundations, the underlying database, have been devised to support the existing structure and nothing else. With the conventional approach, it is often easier to start again - build a new skyscraper next door, rather than reinforce every floor to support those above it, and create new foundations underneath.
