Brian is the owner and Chairman of MJM Group. MJM Group comprises of trading businesses- MJM Marine, Mivan and Topglass and is primarily engaged in high-end marine and land-based construction. Brian started his joinery business in 1983 to provide refurbishment services to the Irish Sea ferry corridor. In 2009 the company started working in new custom-built facilities in Newry and in 2013 officially opened its 100,000ft2 manufacturing facility and office accommodation at Carnbane Business Park, Newry, N.I. Today MJM Marine is one of the world’s leading cruise line refit companies. Brian acquired the assets of Mivan, a leading specialist joinery business in 2014 and this strategic acquisition expanded his remit into land based fit out operations as well as additional marine outfitting. Brian purchased Topglass, based in Toomebridge in 2018. Topglass has been a specialist glass supplier to MJM and Mivan for many years and was a natural fit for the growing portfolio. In 2019 a further phase of development, incorporating the 30,000sq. ft Group Headquarters, was opened in Carnbane Business Park to support Brian’s ambitious growth plans.He also has an extensive property portfolio, Rathbane Holdings, which includes Damolly Retail Park in Newry, Clarence Chambers and Pearl Assurance House on Donegall Square East in Belfast and other commercial, retail and residential properties. Brian is married to Connie and they have four children. Three of his children are currently working in MJM Group which, despite its growing size and scale, retains a family business ethos. Brian has a keen interest in horses and country pursuits outside of the business. He is committed to supporting the local community. In 2018 he organised a charity cruise on board the Azamara Pursuit to celebrate the first refit of this scale in Belfast in many years. This cruise raised £160,000 for local causes with more than £200,000 was raised across the group in 2018 for charitable causes.
