Motif was founded by product leaders and engineers who pioneered the idea of thinking with data visually at Google, Uber, Waymo, and Coursera. The mission is to build a tool that feels more like creating in Figma, than passively viewing static dashboards or writing SQL in a text editor. This is all grounded in the concept of event sequence data exploration.I was brought onboard to lead the design and research efforts as the team transitions from concepts developed as internal tools and MVP explorations to a commercial release.Motif is currently in stealth mode working with design partners.

I was the first designer for Ambassador Labs as it made the transition from CLI based developer tools to include saas cloud-based features. I was brought onboard to create the initial design system (figma) and build out the design process.I work directly with product executive leadership to design and spec out cycle stories for the engineering team, and work with each team to implement features.I was also brought onboard to manage the growing UX team which includes brand design and technical documentation writing, as well as product design. The UX team works directly with all teams at the company. The UX team has been responsible for projects such as a complete brand redesign and overhaul of the IA of our developer docs, as well as all cloud product features.

UPDATE: National Lampoon was acquired by a new private investor group. (November 2022)Venerable but neglected comedy brand, National Lampoon, was acquired in the summer of 2017. UPDATE: Twine Health was acquired by Fitbit (February 2018).Twine was a mobile and web platform that worked with organizations providing health coaching and primary care to self-insured employers and consumers.As one of two initial hires, Twine started as a collection of MIT research papers, clinical trial prototypes and sketches. In collaboration with the founding team, planned, designed, documented, and helped build the first commercial offering.As product lead, I took ownership of the roadmap in order to spec, design and prioritize all features and enhancements. I collaborated with customer success to collect and process feedback from users and ensure we are responding to customer needs.Formed an internal multidisciplinary product team whose mission was to define, assemble, and deliver the definition of the Twine experience, while being a resource between internal Twine teams. The team consists of health care content experts, design and engineering resources.The product team owned customer training as well as setup and maintenance of internal tools for Finance (chargebee) Marketing (hubspot) Customer success (Zendesk) and engineering (Zenhub).As engineering lead for the acquisition phase, I oversaw the backlog, scheduling, and deliverable quality of all work by the engineering team.The Twine platform and coaching model results in unparalleled patient activation, behavior change and outcomes across all conditions. Provider sites using Twine have seen patient populations get 91% to reach target blood pressure, 95% weekly active users, and 100 net promoter score.

UPDATE: Tracelytics was acquired by Appneta (2012) and subsequently SolarWinds (2016)Tracelytics was a SaaS solution for full stack application performance management. Tracelytics collected information about web application performance from front-end load balancers to databases, across all application layers and hosts.Started with hand sketched wireframes from the founding team and helped guide through prototypes, pixel perfect visual design, and finally to a completed web app. As UX lead, I worked with the founders to scope and define user interface projects, while producing specs, wireframes, interactive prototypes and visual designs for engineering. I also took primary lead on presentation html and CSS.As development manager I managed a team of front end engineers to ensure features are developed on time and to specification.With Tracelytics, I also published the popular pageguide.js. As primary UX architect, provided all assets from wireframes and design specification, through pixel perfect designs for Yottaa's Beijing based engineering team.Worked with the VP of Product to conceptualize and document all features for their commercial offering.Managed the communication between a 20+ person front end engineering team in Beijing to ensure design requirements were well understood and completed to spec.Nightly standup meetings and regular onsite travel allowed communication to be free flowing and effective.

UPDATE: CambridgeSoft was acquired by PerkinElmerOversaw complete rewrite of corporate web presence managing a team of outsources web application developers from eastern Europe and South America. Developed and maintained internal CRM application for sales, marketing and finance departments.Managed design and publication of monthly printed industry magazine. From organizing story development and writing by internal resources, to production of all visual assets and layout through oversight of print and mailing. Organized and shipped all tradeshow materials and booth to all company sponsored events.

Provided college executives with primary biographical and financial research reports for the purpose of pursuing large capital donations.Maintained Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge database of alumni contact and donation information.

Developed ICEX's Knowledge Repository, an industry first online whitepaper library of research shared between ICEX clients of non-competing organizations.
