Former CAD-GIS junkie with 10+ years of B2B and B2C sales of Geographical Positioning and Information Systems (GPS / GIS) and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. (first into the field and the last to leave)As a technician for various multidisciplined engineering and landscape firms I was usually tasked with using technology to capture information and process into CAD-GIS-Illustrative graphics, and thus became a hands-on-expert with field equipment and work flows. (by the time the word "manager" gets added to your title your field time has evaporated) So while the engineers and bio-folks make "the big dollars" to be in the office and do their part, I would get the field work done (quickly).I love my work. Getting into the field and then processing data in the office; I get the best of both worlds. Able to communicate these complex geospatial IT concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and coupled with real-world experience of using hardware and processing with office applications.....I decided to venture into sales and "outside-the-box" technical support. And it's working!So I consult as I prefer working with diverse people and different challenges. It makes me disciplined and keeps my mind sharp. I get to travel, for better or worse. And I answer to myself, my family and my clients, no one else.Specialties: Customizing off the shelf applications like ArcPad, Carlson GIS 360 and SurvCE and HGIS, for use in the field and in combination with GPS, Laser Range finders, and as standalone "solutions". I wan to emphasize solutions, as i am so tired of the "Silver Bullet" sales pitch from our competition.I guess that means I have a strong background in resource management. I have used these skills to apply to amusement park asset & utility inventory/management. I thinking having found the similar thread only speaks to the strength in my ability to adapt and get the job done the best way possible, be it natural resources, infrastructure or utilities.
