I have been a qualified Chartered Accountant for nearly 40 years and during that time have been involved in advising clients of all sizes.I trained in Glasgow with Grant Thornton and transferred to their London Office upon qualification in 1975. I then spent six years with Grant Thornton in London before leaving in 1981 for a brief spell with a West End firm. I joined McBrides in 1983, becoming a partner very soon thereafter. My raison d’être is advising larger owner-managed businesses and acting as “quasi” financial director to these clients.Client Success – recent success was advising a client on the restructuring of their business so that they paid 10% capital gains tax rate, rather than 50% income tax rate on an amount in excess of £500,000. Specialities – I am a Registered Auditor and am responsible for the larger Audit clients. I am the firm’s Money Laundering Officer and look after all aspects of compliance within these regulations. I am also responsible for ensuring that the firm remains technically up to date in all aspects.
