I empowered community leaders in ways that would help them expand their impact. This primarily included guiding them through the crowdfunding experience with ioby and providing them with connections and access to resources for their projects (right in their backyard). ioby made data informed decisions with an equity lens. Staying up to date on related happenings in the Greater Cleveland Area was critical for my success in this role. I gained a micro-level perspective on community and its counterparts. My work was dependent on community presence and the ability to understand how the unique needs of individuals, organizations, neighborhoods, cities and regions are interconnected.

I participated in the Cleveland Foundation Public Service Fellowship 2022-23, and I was placed at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) as a Talent and Equity Fellow. I was responsible for uplifting the project management work for the district's 6-part equity series designed for their 7,000 employees by multiple partners internally and externally. My role required engaging with various stakeholders and existed between HR and the district's DEI priorities. I collected data from employees to inform our DEI-related decisions and programs like the support and expansion of our Employee Resource Group (ERGs).

I was accepted to the prestigious Prague Summer Writing Program, and I spent a month living and writing in Prague during the summer of 2022. I intentionally used this time to strengthen the quality of my writing and shared spaces with other colleagues from various backgrounds who helped me refine my work. I engaged in weekly workshops and took part in both informal and formal educational opportunities.

This role strengthened my customer service and product knowledge skills. I was also a part of our store's community engagement team, which involved creating relationships with community leaders and organizations that had priorities and goals aligned with our store's values. This work led to the development of partnerships and collaborative community events that instilled Lululemon as a presence and supporter of the Baton Rouge community.

I joined PPG as an Intern in 2018 and was mentored by the co-founders, Raina Vallot and Sherin Dawud, for 4 years. During this time, I transitioned into a Content Writer role and was responsible for the consistent creation and distribution of newsletters and blogs. I worked with the founders on various initiatives, campaigns, and volunteer events, which required leveraging our social media presence and developing creative and intentional strategies to meet our organizational goals. This experience provided me with a foundational knowledge of social justice, community engagement, marketing, brand development, project management, and mission-driven initiatives.

I was responsible for developing and implementing a strategic communication strategy for all of our social media and audience engagement efforts. I reported social media data to the team, which informed our communication practices and shaped our product development. Working in the health and wellness space required continual research on legislation and news related to our products and the needs of our consumer base.

I was a Fellow for BE2T, an organization with a presence in Baton Rouge, LA, and New Orleans, LA. This role gave me classroom experience as I supported teachers in a K-5 environment. The fellowship also provided professional development opportunities through monthly "Ciphers" and periodical retreats. These spaces gave us opportunities to reflect, learn, and engage deeper with our work and passions.
