At Halstrom Academy, I taught a variety of subjects, including biology, chemistry, physics, 6th-8th grade science, algebra I and II, geometry, pre-calculus, AP studio art, painting, drawing, art appreciation, and arts and crafts. I was adapting my instruction in all these classes to ensure students engage. In addition to teaching, I organize and conduct labs, integrate iPads and online books/applications into my classroom instruction, and input student grades and attendance using an online application (Grade Portal).

During my time as a Lead Teacher at Halstrom Academy, I was a consistent support to the Campus director. I assisted with daily campus operations by speaking with parents and students, acting as a liaison between the director and teachers, supervising teachers, and providing administrative and technical support. In addition, I organized several school-wide events. I was in charge of a student showcase that exhibited exceptional student projects, homework, and science labs. I also worked with students, parents, and fellow teachers to organize several art shows throughout the school year. I have coordinated and guided educational field trips to several Balboa Park museums and the Birch Aquarium. While managing these events, I was tasked with creating fliers and posters displayed throughout the school, on the Halstrom Facebook page, and emailed to parents.

As a tour guide at Safari Park, I gained a great deal of informal teaching experience. I educated many groups of people about the wildlife we saw throughout the tour, such as African and Asian Elephants, Bonsai and Succulent plant life, the California Condor, and other native Californian wildlife. In charge of making the tour interactive and visually interesting for the guests. As a Lead Tour Guide, I also managed co-workers and trained new employees on job duties and responsibilities, utilizing Excel spreadsheets for tour guide schedules and daily equipment inspections.

As a Graduate Teaching Associate, I instructed over 300 students in human communication and public speaking, developed strong leadership skills, acquired public speaking expertise, and utilized Blackboard when evaluating student performance and inputting grades.
