Brian is a seasoned investor and leader with more than 20 years of professional experience working with both for-profit and not-for-profit institutional clients. As a process and outcome-oriented professional, Brian focuses on creating value through repeatable processes central to the management of institutional asset pools. His experience includes working with university endowments, defined benefit plans, captive insurance entities, healthcare entities, and liquidity portfolios. Selected responsibilities include asset allocation development and implementation, policy design, manager search, and selection, implementing tactical tilts, and working in partnership with other C-level executives, boards, and committees. Having spent the entirety of his career focused on institutional investing, Brian considers himself an investment generalist and has built an alternatives-focused skill set that continues to evolve as market opportunities and dynamics change. Selected achievements include the design and build-out of a private equity program, creation of a unique fund-of-one hedge fund program, and diversified hedge fund portfolio redesign.Brian's leadership style is marked by a dedication to the servant leader model. He has experience in building out internal investment teams, including developing budgeting solutions, defining roles & responsibilities, and recruiting and hiring. Brian enjoys sharing his knowledge and views with others and is a frequent contributor as a panelist and/or moderator for a variety of industry events sponsored by Institutional Investor, Global ARC, Managed Funds Association (MFA), and Pensions & Investments, and many other prominent sponsors. One of his favorite aspects of his professional career is having the opportunity to mentor interns and others new to or interested in the investment profession. In addition to serving as a mentor to student interns from the University of Nebraska System and the University of Chicago, Brian guest lectures for both undergraduate and graduate-level programs. Brian has been with the University of Nebraska Foundation since 2014, having joined most recently from MedStar Health (Baltimore, MD), and Wells Fargo Securities (Richmond, VA) before that. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a Psychology minor from the Virginia Military Institute and an MBA from The College of William & Mary. Proud to call himself a transplanted Midwesterner, he resides in Lincoln.
