Keep Middlesex Moving, Inc. (KMM), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit transportation management association (TMA) serving Middlesex County, NJ. KMM partners with employers, local governments, schools, community organizations, and the general public to implement programs that reduce congestion, increase safety, and improve air quality. KMM’s mission is to educate the public about the importance of air quality, promote traffic safety through public outreach and planning, and improve transportation options for commuters, older adults, low-income workers, and people with disabilities.KMM is funded, in part, by the Federal Highway Administration via the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), NJ TRANSIT, the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety (NJDHTS), and other private funding sources.As Executive Director, it is my responsibility to ensure that KMM is working within these parameters, but pushing the limits to find innovative and transformative methods of delivering transportation information and projects.

Successfully lead elements of the Pavement Resource Program (PRP) and other CAIT programs, partnering with key stakeholders on grant proposals, legislative agendas, technology evaluation, business development, public education, and infrastructure development.Facilitate grant proposal development to increase the exposure of the Center in and outside of academic circles, and manage grants for the Center that are suitable to the professional engineers and transportation experts on staff. Coordinate resources to maximize efficacy and interaction among Center subject matter experts including those at the Pavement Resource Center, Rutgers Asphalt Pavement Laboratory, Local Technical Assistance Program, and Transportation Safety Resource Center. Conduct expansive research for a myriad of research papers and reports, and perform advocacy and outreach to agencies and private industries that are relevant to the Center.

Promoted into executive leadership role to act as the statewide spokesperson and government affairs professional for the union heavy/highway construction contracting and hot mix asphalt industries, entailing public affairs, specification writing, and negotiations.Negotiated contracts with labor unions, represented the sector at industry events, and promoted the industry to the public through appearances in multiple media outlets throughout State of New Jersey.Coordinated meetings for association committees, managed general membership functions, and drafted association publications including newsletters, routine correspondence, magazines, and promotional materials.Monitored statewide issues and info sources for issues that could adversely affect the industry and met with legislative leaders, State government agencies, and authorities to relay industry points of view on issues affecting the sector.

Directed the initiation of press opportunities for two New Jersey Assemblymen by preparing media tools such as news advisories, releases, and communications with news editors and reporters, and organizing and executing constituent events.Drafted correspondence to interest groups, government officials, and constituents, and researched and prepared informational background materials for Assemblymen for legislative sessions, press conferences, and public appearances.

Met with legislators, executive branch officials, committee aides, and private sector representatives to discuss client issues, researched relevant legislative and policy issues, and drafted documents and press releases for internal and external correspondence.

Meticulously researched and prepared support documents of legislative issues for clients and principals, tracked client issues through government on-line services and media sources, and organized meetings with principals, clients, and government officials.
