This is accomplished by having a stud 2.5 times greater in R Value than a traditional stud thus making a wall assembly more "effective".The R Value through the 5-1/2" WarmStud is 17.7 and the 7-1/4" WarmStud is 18.5The R Value through a metal 6" RhinoStud is slated to be 38 while the 3-5/8" version is looking to be near 23. The RhinoStud is also up to 5 times stronger in axial compression and up to 5 times stronger in wind load pressures. By using the performance path method of proving energy efficiency instead of the typical prescriptive path, this methodology of ridding the requirement of exterior rigid insulation is easily verifiable.
