I have spent the past thirty years working in IT and cybersecurity as IT Director, CISO and Virtual CISO for numerous large corporations, and most recently as the National Strategic Engagement Adviser (SEA) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Indianapolis Division.I taught and served as the Information Technology Chairperson at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne and developed Risk Management courseware for Indiana Tech. He served as the Cyber Coach for the Ivy Tech Collegiate Cyber Defense Competitions (CCDC) for seven years and as state Director for two. He is a frequent cybersecurity speaker at local and national conferences such as RSA, SecureWorld, and Indy Big Data, and is a regular IT Security and Audit SME contributor to ITProTV. I have published articles in the Indiana Bankers Journal (IBJ) he most recent being, Security and Audit, the Odd Couple, and served as Technical Editor of several security books including Wiley’s (ISC)2 CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Study Guide and Wiley’s (ISC)2 SSCP Systems Security Certified Practitioner Official Study Guide. He is also co-author of Wiley’s CISA Certified Information Systems Auditor Study Guide, 4th Edition and Wiley’s (ISC)2 CCSP Certified Cloud Security Professional Official Study Guide. I received my BS in Economics from Indiana University and my MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota. Over the course of my career, I have served in numerous leadership positions with local and national InfoSec organizations such as President of the ISACA Indiana chapter, Secretary of the ISC2 Indianapolis chapter, and President of the InfraGard Indiana Members Alliance, part of the FBI’s Private Sector Outreach. I have earned numerous leadership awards including the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA, 2016) Fellow status, ISC2 ISLA Community Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership in Infosec (2017), InfraGard Indiana Diversity Award (2017) for efforts at recruiting minorities and women, and the InfraGard Indiana Blue Shield of Service Award (2023), for his lifetime contribution towards protecting America’s infrastructure through leadership, dedication to security, and exemplary service. I am also a graduate the FBI Citizens Academy and the FBI CISO Academy.
