BRIAN PACKHAM was born and raised in Cockeysville, Maryland. He began his musical studies at the age of nine -- with his first compositions appearing shortly after beginning formal instruction. Brian went on to the Peabody Conservatory, preparatory division, in Baltimore, focusing on piano, theory, and composition; and in 1981 arrived at the Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, he studied composition with John Bavicchi and piano with Stephanie Plsek. He received two scholarships and was the first student to win the school-wide Wind Ensemble Competition two years in a row, 1984 and 1985.Since graduating cum laude from Berklee in 1985, Brian has had his music performed by a wide variety of performers and ensembles throughout the Americas including: the Baltimore Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, Kalamazoo Symphony, Camerata Beriloche (Argentina), Kamloops Symphony (B.C.), Duquesne University Wind Ensemble, the U.S. Naval Academy Percussion Ensemble, and local ensembles including: Paramount Brass, Boston Brass, MIT Concert Band, Brookline Symphony and the Arlington-Belmont Chamber Chorus. The CBC Radio Network and National Public Radio have also featured his music.
