OwnerSmart Guy In A Tie Llc Aug 2014 - PresentDayton, Ohio AreaSmart Guy In A Tie builds experiences in two realms; the digital world for marketing and the physical world for events. In the digital world, utilizing infographics, digital media, and blogging, I develop campaigns that can be broken down into multiple pieces and reassembled according to the platform's need. People seeking information find it primarily through search engines making keywords and tags an essential element for success. But data is not what makes content sharable. That requires a good story to engage their imagination and bring them to a decision. When their journey ends, I assess the path they took to see how to improve the conversation in the future.Experiences in the physical world, from intimate private parties to large public ones, require careful planning. Working with the client is essential to establish themes, the number of people in attendance, drink preferences, and other variables to create a cocktail, wine, and beer selection to enhance a guest's time. We work with different caterers and make sure that the food and drink fall within the theme of the event. I consider those that want non-alcoholic options as well. A team of hospitality professionals shows up early to set everything up and stays late to clean it and cart it all away.I look forward to helping you create that next experience, wherever it may lead. -
Freelance WriterAlcohol Professor Feb 2014 - PresentDayton, Ohio AreaStarting with the history of grapefruit, my work explores the intersection of culture and alcohol wherever they meet. It comes in many forms, from religious tomes that dictate preparation techniques to sporting events to mythology. Deep research goes into every article, interviewing experts in the field, scouring the internet, the distilling all of that information into a draught of refreshing information about the topic.

Adjunct FacultySinclair Community College Sep 2007 - PresentDayton, Ohio AreaWorking with the full-time staff and faculty at Sinclair Community College, teaching classes as the department needed. My class, Design Basics, provided students with an understanding of the basics of design. Projects revolved around how to develop a concept, using lines and shapes to convey themes, and taking a finished project and adapting it into a new design. Every lesson built on previous experiences, encouraging them to apply what they learned to every piece. It was essential to get the students to embrace the process for the work, not only the results. The grading rubric reflected this approach, making sure that the student was brainstorming, sketching, and exploring concepts as they worked on each project. -
Copywriter And EditorWilderness Agency, Llc Aug 2016 - Dec 2022Dayton, Ohio AreaDeveloping a brand voice, vision, and messaging requires research. I begin that exploration by looking at their existing brand assets and platforms, as well as their competitions, to find a voice that distinguishes them in their industry. Wilderness Agency works with a wide variety of clients, from the music industry to industrial material repair, making research a critical component of the project. Information gathered is used to write the content of their website, blogs, social media posts, and any other pieces they require. The initial development of brand voice allows us to maintain consistency in the copy across all platforms. -
Catering SupervisorUniversity Of Dayton Oct 2019 - Apr 2020Dayton, OhCatering covers events large and small at the University of Dayton, from intimate dinners to arena-shaking athletics. My focus was on assisting managing the areas catering served during games and private events. Once the event was complete, I made sure to deliver any final paperwork after the event to the proper department. My duties included managing drink inventory with weekly and monthly counts, keeping a full stock of paper goods, ordering supplies for the chefs when they needed it, training new bartenders, building cocktail menus, and maintaining the cleanliness of the event spaces. -
Director Of Career ServicesThe Modern College Of Design Sep 2018 - Aug 2019Kettering, OhDuring my time as Director, we began a Fall Portfolio for the first time in the school's history. It was important that the students in this portfolio semester have the same experience that was provided during the Spring Semester. I worked with students in both portfolio classes to develop their resumes, work on cover letters, and interview them to see what type of work they were interested in for their externship. Events were coordinated with AIGA Cincinnati and CSCA to ensure students had the same opportunity to network with professionals that the Spring Portfolio students enjoyed. As I was preparing the students for their externship, I was working with local employers to secure externships and bring them in for mock interviews. The University of Dayton was a new partnership we made during that time frame as well as working with other local design firms. There was also work being done to help ready the faculty and students for the Spring Portfolio, which was a much larger group.During the Spring Portfolio, the students received the same reviews of their resume, web biographies, and attention to their future career. We worked with employers around southwest Ohio and across the country to place students in the environments that would be most conducive to their career. During that search, 48% of the connections that were made were with new companies and two in other states. Our staff also executed the largest Career Fair in the school's history, bringing in thirty-six employers for students to speak with, leading to several externship opportunities with those businesses.Over the summer, the focus was on expanding Career Services' connections to other departments, meeting with each department to establish their needs and how we could assist them during the 2019/2020 school year. The Student Guide for the Co-Op in 2021 was developed as a rough draft, working with the Vice President of Student Affairs to ensure that our policies were addressed. -
Career Services SpecialistThe Modern College Of Design Jul 2017 - Sep 2018Dayton, Ohio AreaMy primary function for this role was to work with the first-year and second-year students to build their professional skills. This was accomplished through scheduling in-class seminars with the students as well as one on one reviews of their resumes and portfolios. The seminars scheduled covered topics like setting goals, time management, and developing a web presence. We helped them set up professional resumes in a template, allowing them to keep all their information in one place and update is as they needed. This helped them build out a more consistent final resume and LinkedIn page. Panel discussions were organized with local professionals in the industry to discuss topics like the importance of social media in a job search and how to best prepare for an interview. Through the year, we sent students a weekly newsletter with tips about searching for jobs, students who had done first-year internships in the past, and companies in southwest Ohio that were offering internship opportunities. Part of building up the professional skills of the first-year students was developing the EMERGE Program. We worked with local non-profits to secure part-time internship positions during the summer. The work the students did helped the community while building their own portfolio and skill set over the summer months. It was a voluntary program, and we had ten students work that first summer at nine different non-profits in the area. -

Senior Environmental Designer, Leed ApInterbrand Design Forum Feb 2006 - May 2009As an Environmental Designer, my responsibilities were to bring brand value to the retail environment. Brands have the power to change the world, and every retail experience and touchpoint should connect the customer to your brand. I used a variety of presentation techniques to do this, including hand sketching and rendering, rendering using Photoshop, selecting materials, putting together presentations in InDesign and PowerPoint, working out space plans, and creating detailed drawings of the fixtures designed. Design has the ability to change and refresh the client's perception of your store and potentially your brand, and I was pleased to educate our clients about it. -
