In my current role leading Enterprise Information Management and as the Deputy Chief Data Officer at Sandia, my incredible team of 9 first level leaders and I (alongside our ~250 employees and contractors and key strategic vendors) have responsibility for Enterprise IT systems and services for Environmental Safety and Health, Contractor and Quality Assurance, Business Intelligence and Reporting, Data Science and Data Delivery, Data Engineering and Delivery, Digital Collaboration, Web and Content Development, Records Management, and other critical enterprise IT functions. In my Deputy Chief Data Officer role for our CIO/CDO I advocate for and enable data analytics and operational AI with my team, implementing policy, practice, and technology to improve governance and use of data as an enterprise and corporate asset.I have background in all aspects of design, development, and delivery of complex hardware and software systems across the technology readiness level spectrum, including those specific to space programs and nuclear weapons. I'm passionate about leadership of agile teams with modern processes (Scrum, SAFe) and tools to produce full stack software systems. I'm experienced in business development, cost estimation, strategic planning, proposals, and contracting in the national security and federal environment. I enjoy development and execution of large programs as well as talent resourcing and recruiting outreach. I believe that data is the core (but sadly underutilized) currency of business in the 21st century and have spent much of my career in data engineering, strategy, analytics, and governance. I maintain a broad technology interest in research, products, and services that have potential for defense and national security application, information technology, and all things categorized (some correctly, some very incorrectly) into artificial intelligence. Outside of "my day job" I have expertise in finance and investing (financial planning, retirement and tax advantaged accounts, tax management, portfolio management and optimization, investing) and enjoy conversations about tax policy, portfolio optimization/allocation and risk tolerance, and particularly behavioral investing / behavioral finance (because people aren't perfect / optimal / completely rational and that keeps things exciting!)
