I am currently Vice President of George Fox Digital and a Professor at George Fox University, where I help lead our university through teaching and learning innovation, assessment, promotion of faculty scholarship, and more. I engage learners in a variety of situations—in deep discussion around seminar tables, as readers of old fashioned academic content, as listeners of podcasts, as students in digital courses, and as viewers on YouTube. As a scholar, my work focuses on ancient languages and literatures and their reception in the modern world. I am a first generation college student, and my PhD is from Harvard University in Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations. I’ve published six solo-authored academic books, co-edited an Oxford Handbook, and written a lot of shorter things. My wife and I live with our two daughters in gorgeous Oregon wine country.
